Bearcats Win Second at HU-OBU Classic
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team was victorious for the second time today, as they defeated Henderson State in five games, 3-2 (19-30, 30-22, 26-30, 30-20, 15-11) at the Henderson State-Ouachita Baptist Classic.
In the match there were 21 ties and 10 lead changes, with the most coming in game three. In game three, there were 10 ties and five lead changes, followed by game five. In the final game it totaled seven ties and two lead changes.
For the Bearcats, junior Sarah Trowbridge (Boone, Iowa), who had a team high 15 kills and was third on the team in digs with 14. It was Trowbridge's eighth double-double of the season and second in as many matches.
After coming off a great first match of the afternoon against Harding, sophomore Lauren Cummings (Ankeny, Iowa) came away with 12 blocks and 14 kills in against Henderson State.
The setters for the Bearcats, junior Molly Hankins (Moline, Ill.) and sophomore Katie Stilwell (W. Des Moines, Iowa) had 24 and 23 assists. Hankins also had a double-double in the match with 15 digs.
The Northwest Bearcats are now 11-12 overall, while Henderson State moves to 8-15. The Bearcats will be back in action tomorrow in the final day of the Henderson State-Ouachita Baptist Classic, against North Alabama at 1:30 and Ouachita Baptist at 3:30.
