Volleyball Drops Match against UNO
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team dropped its match tonight against Nebraska-Omaha at Bearcat Arena. UNO defeated the Bearcats in three games, 32-30, 30-26 and 30-28.
The biggest lead in game one was a four-point lead by Northwest, however UN-Omaha was able to come back and take the lead at 28-27 en route to the win. In game two, Northwest lost a seven point lead at 17-10, and UNO was able to tie it up 20.
In the match, there were a total of 18 ties and nine lead changes, with six ties coming in all three games. The most lead changes were in game one, when there were a total of six.
For the Bearcats, junior MacKenzie Heston (Ankeny, Iowa) and sophomore Lauren Cummings (Ankeny, Iowa) each had 10 kills. Cummings led the team with a .368 attack percentage, which was followed up by Heston at .222.
Other Bearcat notables, were setters junior Molly Hankins (Moline, Ill.) and sophomore Katie Stilwell (W. Des Moines, Iowa), coming in with 17 and 16 assists respectively.
As a team, Northwest hit .237 in game one, in game two it hit .300 and in game three a low of .032. For Nebraska-Omaha, it hit .125 in game one, .368 in game two and .079 in the final game.
After the loss, the Bearcats fall to 9-12 overall and UNO improves to 12-4 on the year. Up next for Northwest is the Henderson State-Ouachita Baptist Classic in Arkadelphia, Ark. on Oct. 7-8.
