Volleyball Drops Fourth Match in a Row
Warrensburg, Mo.-The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team dropped its fourth straight today this time to Central Missouri State University, 3-0 (21-30, 22-30, 15-30).
In game one the Bearcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a kill by junior Sarah Trowbridge (Boone, Iowa), and that was the only lead of game one for Northwest. The Bearcats were down by as much as seven and came all the way back to bring the score within three at 20-17, but Central called a timeout and was able to get the victory.
In game two the Bearcats again came out quickly with a 1-0 lead when sophomore Rachel Spensley (Dubuque, Iowa) had one of her team tying seven kills. Central Missouri again was able to take the lead and win.
In game three, Northwest was never able to get on track and beat themselves with errors in the match, the Bearcats made 21 attack errors, while Central Missouri had only 14. Central also blocked the Northwest attack 18 times.
The Bearcats attack percent was also one of their weakness', as they only hit .111, with their highest individual attack percent coming from senior Mandy Tryon (Adel, Iowa), who hit .176.
Northwest fell to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in the MIAA, while Central Missouri moved to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Up next for the Bearcats is Missouri Western on Wednesday at Bearcat Arena starting at 7 p.m.
