Volleyball Drops First MIAA Match on the Road
Topeka, Kan.-The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team dropped their third straight in the last week, this time to No. 11 Washburn University, 3-0 (18-30, 26-30, 16-30).
The Bearcats were beaten by their own mistakes again, with 20 attack errors, only a .134 attack percent and six service errors. Washburn meanwhile, only made two service errors and 11 attack errors.
In the match Northwest and Washburn had three ties and three lead changes in game one, in game two the Bearcats battled back to tie the game the up at 25. In that game Northwest was down by as much as seven when Washburn was up 17-10. In game three the score was tied twice early before Washburn pulled away for good.
Northwest's leaders in the match were junior Sarah Trowbridge (Boone, Iowa) with 12 kills, fellow classmate Molly Hankins (Moline, Ill.) had 18 assists and freshman Annie Rice (Lincoln, Neb.) with eight digs.
The Bearcats fell to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the MIAA, while Washburn improved to 13-0 and 2-0 in the MIAA. Northwest will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at noon when they take on No.10 Central Missouri. The Jennies fell tonight to Missouri Western in five games and moved them to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA.
