Volleyball Drops First Match in Florida
Lakeland, Fla.-The Northwest Missouri State volleyball played its first of three matches down Florida tonight against No. 14 Florida Southern College. The Bearcats were beaten in four games by Florida Southern (13-30, 27-30, 30-27, 25-30).
The Bearcats could not get their serves down as they had 18 service errors and only three service aces. Florida Southern meanwhile only had eight service errors and got down seven aces in the match.
Individually for the 'Cats junior Sarah Trowbridge (Boone, Iowa) had a game high 18 kills and a team high 16 digs for her first double double of the season. Sophomore Katie Stilwell (W. Des Moines, Iowa) had her second double double of the season with 13 assists and 11 digs.
Junior Molly Hankins (Moline, Ill.) had a team high 25 assists, while junior MacKenzie Heston (Ankeny, Iowa) had 13 digs and sophomore Rachel Spensley chipped in with 11. Sophomore Lauren Cummings (Ankeny, Iowa) had a game high seven block assists in the loss.
The Bearcats will have tomorrow off before they travel to Saint Leo, Fla. on Friday Sept. 9 to play Saint Leo University (first meeting).
