Northwest Falls to Pitt State
MARYVILLE, Mo. -Northwest Missouri State fell to Pittsburg State tonight in three games (30-20, 30-28, 30-26). The match was the last mid-week conference match for the season.
The Bearcats came out slow in game one hitting only .091. Games two and three showed improvement with .267 and .239 hitting percentages, higher than the Gorillas' attack percentage for the second(.190) and third(.196) game.
The 'Cats competed with Pittsburg almost kill-for-kill and block-for-block. Northwest had 46 kills to Pittsburg's 51 and 6.5 blocks to the Gorillas' eight.
Northwest's record falls to 13-17 and 4-10 in the MIAA. Pittsburg State rises to 19-10 and 7-6 in the MIAA.
Allison Hyland and Lauren Cummings crunched 11 kills each for the 'Cats. Amy D'Amato dug 15 balls and Katie Stilwell had 33 assists.
Elizabeth Anyigor-Abitogun had game high 17 kills for the Gorillas.
The Bearcats return home this weekend to wrap up regular season conference action. They face Southwest Baptist Fri., Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. and Missouri Southern Sat., Oct 30 at noon.
