
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State volleyball suffered a tough loss to Emporia State tonight in four games. Game scores were 25-30, 26-30, 30-20, 28-30.
The Bearcats dropped behind in the first two games but came back to defeat Emporia in game three, hitting .355 attack percentage to the Hornets .200 percent.
The 'Cats ended the game with .191 hitting percentage to Emporia's .157 hitting percentage. They hindered the Hornets' attacks recording 13 blocks, 10 of which were added by Lauren Cummings. Northwest had 16 service aces and only seven reception errors, but were hurt by 19 service errors.
Cummings had the Bearcat's team high 16 kills. Steph Suntken was right behind her with 14 kills and three block assists. Caylee Meyer and Katie Stilwell aided the offense with 21 assists each.
The loss dropped Northwest to 12-13 overall and 3-6 in MIAA action. Emporia improved to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the MIAA.
The Bearcats travel to Washburn on Fri., Oct. 15 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup and then on to Central Missouri State Sat. to play at 11:00 a.m.
