Bearcats Drop First Four-game Loss
Vermillion, S.D. - Northwest Missouri State lost in four games to South Dakota tonight in their first four-game loss of the season. The game scores were 26-30, 30-23, 23-30 and 18-30. The loss takes the Bearcats to 11-12 overall and 3-5 in the MIAA.
The Coyotes forced 31 hitting errors to cause the Bearcats to hit only .119 (50-31-160) for the match. The 'Cats served 10 aces to South Dakota's six and blocked nine of the Coyotes' attacks.
Lauren Cummings led Northwest with 15 kills, three service aces and five blocks. Allison Hyland hit team-high .500 (9-2-14) and added one block. Sarah Trowbridge added 19 digs which is her individual season high.
The Coyotes were led by Lindsey Soukup with 19 kills and 22 digs. Liz Selzer was a major resource on the offense with 48 assists.
South Dakota improved their record to 9-9 overall and 2-1 in the NCC.
The 'Cats play non-conference opponent Rockhurst at home on Sat., Oct. 9 at 3:00 p.m.
