Missouri Southern Sweeps Bearcats
JOPLIN, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team dropped a tough match this afternoon to Missouri Southern, 0-3. Scores were 33-31, 30-23 and 31-29.
Both clubs hit under .200 with NMSU at .133 (51-30-158) and Southern at .196 (48-19-148). The Lions held a slight 13.0-10.5 blocks edge.
Freshman Lauren Cummings and senior Steph Suntken tied for game-high kill honors with 13 apiece. Junior Allison Hyland added 12 in that category. Freshman Katie Stilwell recorded a team-high 29 assists.
Sophomore Sarah Trowbridge came away with 14 digs. Suntken led all 'Cats with a .355 (13-2-31) hitting percentage.
The Lions were led by the 13 kills from Jackie Gallagher. Denise Lancaster had 34 assists and 14 digs. Amy Barnicle posted a game-high 23 digs.
Northwest falls to 11-11 overall and 3-5 in league action while Missouri Southern betters to 7-10 and 3-4 in the MIAA.
Next, the 'Cate take on non-conference foe South Dakota, Tues., Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m.
