Bearcats Fall to No. 8 Truman State
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team fell to No. 8 Truman State, 3-0, Friday night at Pershing Arena in Kirksville, Mo. Game scores were 15-30, 16-30 and 27-30. The loss drops the Bearcats' record to 2-15 on the season, 0-5 in the MIAA.
The Bulldogs came out strong, dominating the first two games of the match. A tough Truman defense limited the 'Cats to just six kills and a -.070 hitting percentage in the first game. In the third game, Northwest came out determined. The two teams traded points thoughout much of the match, with the lead changing hands numerous times. However, in the end, Truman proved too much, taking the match, 3-0.
Setting the pace for the 'Cats was junior Amy Ruff (Excelsior Springs, Mo.) with nine kills and six digs. Fellow transfer Steph Suntken (Indianola, Iowa) also tallied nine kills to go along with five kills.
The 'Cats hit the road Wednesday for a conference showdown with the Pittsburg State Gorillas. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Pittsburg, Kan.
