Northwest Falls to Washburn, 3-0

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Northwest volleyball team fell to the No. 22 Washburn Lady Blues, 3-0, Friday night at Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan. Game scores were 21-30, 17-30, 10-30. The loss is extends the team's losing streak to 12 and drops the Bearcats' record to 2-12 overall, 0-2 in the MIAA.

Washburn used stiff defense to capture the victory, holding the 'Cats to just 27 kills and a .099 hitting percentage. The Lady Blues' defense really tightened in the third game, allowing Northwest to record only five kills on 33 attempts for a .030 attack percentage.

Senior Leslie Junker (Parkersburg, Iowa) and freshman Mackenzie Heston (Ankeny, Iowa) tallied six kills each, while Steph Suntken (Indianola, Iowa) and Amy Ruff (Excelsior Springs, Mo.) added five kills apiece.

The 'Cats will be back in action Saturday to face the No. 20 Central Missouri State Jennies in Warrensburg. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
