Track adds to provisional marks at Concordia

SEWARD, Neb. – The Northwest Missouri State track and field teams competed at the Concordia Classic at Concordia University in Seward, Neb., on Friday and Saturday. The Bearcats had two individuals and one relay team hit NCAA provisional times on the day.

On the women’s side, Ashton Nibert ran a provisional time while winning the 400 meter dash in 56.76. Nibert’s time also set a Bulldog Fieldhouse record. She was followed by Alexis Boyd, who placed third in 58.84, Lamisha Mckamey who was seventh (1:01.08) and Audrey Bolinger who finished eighth (1:01.15). The 4x400 meter relay team of Haley Manning, Boyd, Nibert and Samantha Fender won in an NCAA provisional time of 3:55.94. Manning was second in the 800, narrowly missing a provisional mark while running a 2:18.74. Samantha Fender finished third in the 60 meter dash, running 7.94 and Hannah Churchman was fourth in the high jump, clearing 5-01.75. Courtney Powell finished fifth in the pentathlon on Friday with 3,076 points and Alex Hartwig finished sixth in the 600 meter run in 1:41.25.

For the men, Tim Grundmayer hit an NCAA provisional time in the 800, finishing second in 1:55.43. Teammate Ryan Cox was fourth, finishing in 1:57.92. Nolan Zimmer won the one mile run, clocking in at 4:21.69. Drew Keefer ran 8:44.96 to place second in the 3,000 meter run while Desmand Jackson placed fourth in the 60 meter dash, running 7.08. Also placing fourth was Peyton Mizera, who marked 22-01.50 in the long jump. Cale Kobelik was fifth in the 200, running 22.94 and Caleb Mather was sixth in the shot put, marking 50-03.25 on his fourth throw. DeAndre Thomas finished sixth in the heptathlon with 4,054 points.

Up next, Northwest will compete at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The two-day meet begins on Friday, Feb. 7.
