Nibert and Wichmann compete at NCAA Championships
PUEBLO, Co. – Ashton Nibert and Chloe Wichmann both competed for the Northwest Missouri State Track & Field team at the NCAA Division II Championships Thursday in their respective events.
Junior Ashton Nibert finished 12th in a field of 20 with a time of 55.07 in the 400m dash. Nibert was unable to make it past the preliminaries. The fastest time during the prelims was recorded at 52.87. The junior’s time is a career best as well as the No. 2 mark on the Northwest top 10 list behind Venus Harris who posted a time of 53.70 in 1987.
Sophomore Chloe Wichmann finished day one of the Heptathlon with 2,722 points. Wichmann competed in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m dash during the first day of the event. The Sophomore will continue tomorrow as she will participate in the long jump, javelin toss and 800m run. Wichmann will look to improve on the current standings which have her in 17th place. Day two of the Heptathlon will begin Friday at 11 am (MST).
John Petroff and Will Haer will be representing the men’s track & field team at the NCAA Division II Championships. Petroff will be competing in the discus Friday at 2 pm (MST) while Haer will be participating in the pole vault Saturday at 2:30 pm (MST).
