Two Bearcats earn provisional, as two more claim titles
CHICAGO, Ill. – Anne Herbert and Zac Bendrick joined the growing list of Northwest Missouri State track and field athletes that have earned a NCAA provisional as the list grew to 12 Friday at the Dr. Keeler Invitational.
Bendrick finished third in the shot put as his throw of 52-07.50 earned him a NCAA provisional mark. The throw was also a personal best for the sophomore.
Herbert raced to a time of 10:59.96 in the 3000-meter steeplechase to finish fifth. The top five finish for Herbert also gave her a provisional time that ranks in the top 25 in NCAA Division II and was a personal best for the sophomore.
The Bearcats also saw two champions Friday as Travis Manning won the 110-meter hurdles and Porter Groves claimed the triple jump title.
Groves finished with a mark of 47-06.50 to win the event and was just shy of a personal best.
Manning raced to a time of 14.51 to win the 100-meter hurdles. His time was good enough for a NCAA provisional, but did not better his outdoor time this spring of 14.40 set at the Hillsdale Classic.
The Bearcats continue to prep for the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships later this month in Pueblo, Colo. The announcement of athletes that qualify will be announced prior to the championships May 23-25.
