Bearcats finish day one of MIAA Championships
HAYS, Kan. – A pair of Northwest Missouri State track and field men sit in the top 10, while Jessica Hugo sits seventh after day one of the multi-events at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Hugo finished third in the high jump as her 2759 points place her in seventh in the heptathlon. Zoe Sharplin of Central Missouri finished day one with 3168 to hold the first day lead while two of her teammates followed up in second and third.
The Bearcat men placed two individuals in the top 10 after day one of the decathlon with Seth Staashelm in seventh and Logann Halloran in ninth. Staashelm tallied 3353 points while Halloran earned 3109.
Nebraska-Kearney’s Dillon Schrodt paced the decathlon with 3811, while Brent Vogel of Central Missouri is close behind with 3779 in second.
Day two will kick off at 10 a.m. with the final decathlon events, while the heptathlon starts at 11 a.m. Field events start Saturday at 12:30 p.m. as the prelims for all running events start at 3:30 p.m.
