Bearcats to host 2013 Northwest Open on Saturday
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State men and women’s track and field teams will host seven schools for the Northwest Open that will be held at Bearcat Stadium and Herschel Neil Track Saturday with the first event starting at 10:50 a.m.
The Bearcats will welcome William Jewell University, William Penn College, Graceland University, Midland University, Kansas City Smoke, Wentworth Military Academy and Highland C.C. to compete in over 40 events.
Several Bearcats are looking to meet the NCAA qualifying marks this weekend. Eli Smith and Ashton Nibert will be looking to qualify in the 400m dash. Will Haer and Megan Elder will compete in the pole vault. Anne Herbert and Jacob Henry will try and make their qualifying time in the steeplechase.
Chloe Wichman will compete following last week’s successful heptathlon where she earned 4636 points finishing first and moving her into sixth in point totals for NCAA-II.
Admission to the Northwest Open is free and will start promptly at 10:50 a.m. with the 10,000m men’s and women’s combined run. The men’s 1600m relay will be the final event of the Open and is scheduled to start at 4:10 p.m.
