Shaw and Bearcat women earn provisional marks at ISU

AMES, Iowa – A quartet of Bearcat women earned a NCAA provisional mark to open weekend action at the 2013 Iowa State Classic.
The Northwest Missouri State women’s distance medley team raced to a 13th place finish earning a provisional mark. Led by Taylor Woodruff, Ashton Nibert, Chloe Wichman and Anne Herbert the Bearcats checked in just one second under the mark with a time of 12:19.36.
Tyler Shaw also earned a provisional mark in the 200-meter dash – Shaw currently holds a top 15 time in the 60-meter dash. On Friday the senior raced to a time of 22.07 as he raced to a 10th place finish.
Shaw and Travis Manning also continued their solid indoor season as Manning earned a top 10 finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Manning’s time of 8.18 was good for an eighth place finish while Shaw was just outside the top 10 at 11th with a time of 8.22.
For the Bearcat women Jordan Esry narrowly missed a provisional mark with a time of 10:12.79. The time was a personal best for Esry in the 3000-meters and captured the third best time in the Northwest record books.
A split Bearcat squad continues action at the Concordia Classic in Seward, Neb., while the Iowa State Classic starts up Saturday morning.
