Complete Men's Results | Complete Women's Results

AMES, Iowa – The Northwest Missouri State men’s and women’s track and field teams saw several top performances Friday and Saturday at the Iowa State Open that included NCAA provisional marks for both teams.

For the Bearcat men Tyler Shaw and Travis Manning earned provisional marks in the 60-meter hurdles. Shaw edged out his teammate in the finals placing third with a time of 8.08 while Manning finished fourth at 8.09 - both NCAA provisional times.

On the women’s side Ashton Nibert had one of her most impressive days as she recorded two personal best times. The highlight of the day for Nibert came in the 400-meters where her third place finish with a time of 56.64 earned her a NCAA provisional time and is the second best time in the event all-time at Northwest.

Nibert’s outstanding day continued with a personal best mark in the 200-meters. Although the junior finished 12th, her time of 25.99 was the best of her career and just half a second from a provisional time. It also ties the seventh best mark all-time at Northwest.

Also earning top 10 finishes for the Bearcat women included Anne Herbert and Jordan Esry. Herbert won the 5000-meter non-seeded section with a time of 18:25.42, a personal best and a top 10 mark in the Northwest record books.

Esry raced to a sixth place finish in the seeded section with a time of 18:12.83, also a personal best.

Megan Elder paced the women in the field events with a runner-up finish in the pole vault. Elder’s mark of 10-11.50 gave her a second place finish as the senior was looking to better a provisional mark set earlier this season at the Iowa State Holiday Preview in December.

Fender also earned a top 10 finish in the long jump with a distance of 16-09.75 for a ninth place finish.

On the men’s side senior Will Haer continued his solid indoor season in the pole vault. Haer matched his season best mark of 15-11.25 to win the pole vault for a second time this season and matched his provisional mark he set last week at the Nebraska Invitational.

Nolan Zimmer also earned a first place finish in the 5000-meters non-seeded section. Zimmer raced to a time of 15:19.40, a personal best for the freshman, as the time was also a top 10 mark on the Northwest performance list.

Next up for the Bearcat track and field teams is the Concordia Classic. Both men’s and women’s teams will travel next Sunday, Jan. 27 to Seward, Neb., for the one-day event.
