McKnight & Moloney earn provisional at Mule Relays
WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Lekisha McKnight and Fiona Moloney earned NCAA provisional marks in the shot put Friday to highlight the Central Missouri Mule Relays at Walton Stadium.
McKnight set a PR with her throw of 14.34m (47-00.75) and third place finish. Moloney, who is competing in her first season for the Bearcats picked up a PR and the provisional mark with a throw of 13.66 (44-09.75) for a fifth place finish.
After a solid finish at the Kansas Relays, Heidi Johnson followed up with a gold medal performance in the 800-meter run. Johnson’s time of 2:20.92 was a whole second better than second place finisher Alex Apperson of William Woods.
For the women sprinters Brianna Evans, Samantha Fender and Ashton Nibert all recorded top five finishes. Nibert placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.46.
Fender placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.02 while Evans finished fourth in the 100-meter dash. Fender also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 5.58m barely missing the NCAA provisional mark of 5.65m.
On the men’s side Rashaad Scott and Eli Smith recorded top five finishes in the 200-meter dash placing third and fourth respectively. Scott also finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.10.
Jared Walker and David Nilges also raced to a top five finish in the 5000-meter run as Walker placed third with a time of 15:37.13. Nigles placed fourth with a mark of 15:44.15.
Travis Manning and Kemper Kellerstrass also picked up third place finishes as Manning recorded a mark of 14.75 in the 110-meter hurdles. Kellerstrass jumped to a height of 4.40m in the pole vault for his third place mark.
