Darling and Walter earn top 5 finishes at KU Relays
LAWRENCE, Kan. – A pair of Northwest Missouri State men and women highlighted day one of the Kansas Relays with top five finishes on Thursday.
Kate Walter again impressed in the hammer throw as she bested 16 Division I throwers for a fourth place finish. Walter finished with an NCAA automatic mark of 57.08m (187-03) on Thursday although the mark did not surpass her throw last weekend at the PSU Gorilla Classic.
For the men Ryan Darling ran to an impressive third place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:52.32. The mark was not only a personal best for Darling, but a NCAA provisional mark as well and the third best time in the MIAA this spring.
Also earning a top 10 finish was Kit Anderson in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Anderson finished eighth with a time of 10:04.98.
On the women’s side Heidi Johnson also raced to a top 10 finish placing 10th with a time of 4:48.44 in the 1500-meter run. Johnson was the second highest Division II finisher as Truman State’s Anne Ratermann captured the title.
