Northwest closes at Nebraska Invite
LINCOLN, Neb. – Will Haer and Heidi Johnson earned top 10 finishes for Northwest Missouri State to highlight the Frank Sevigne Invitational at Nebraska University on Friday and Saturday.
Johnson finished 10th in the mile run and narrowly missed a NCAA provisional mark with a time of 5:08.10. Johnson was the second highest non-Division I finisher.
Haer was the highest non-Division I pole vaulter earning a ninth place finish. His mark of 4.80 meters was .5 meters off from champion Jack Whitt of Oral Roberts.
Travis Manning improved his NCAA provisional in the 60 meters hurdles with a time of 8.18. Manning earned a sixth place finish running in the consolation finals on Saturday.
The Invitational saw only nine Bearcats earn invites. Northwest will have a full squad next weekend at the Concordia Invitational with just three weeks before the MIAA Indoor Championships Feb. 24-26.
