LINCOLN, Neb. – Day two at the Nebraska Holiday Inn Invitational garnered solid results from the Northwest Missouri State field events as a trio of men highlighted Saturday at the Devaney Sport Center.
Three Bearcats on the men’s and women’s side earned top 10 finishes including a third place medal for Lekiesha McKnight in the shot put. McKnight narrowly missed out on second place behind Barton County’s Janee Mickens as Carlie Pinkelman of Nebraska ran-away with the title.
Will Haer followed up a solid performance in the pole vault with a seventh place finish and a mark of 4.75m. Haer followed up his runner-up finish at Iowa State as the top Division II vaulter in Nebraska, as the Huskers claimed the top six spots.
Zac Bendrick was able to hang with the non-Division I throwers in the shot put with a seventh place finish and a finals throw of 14.31. Wes Tucker of Barton County took home a fourth place finish with a throw of 15.22 meters while a pair of Huskers broke loose from the pack to finish first and second.
Junior Porter Groves was the final Bearcat to finish in the top 10 earning a ninth place finish in the triple jump.
A pair of sprinters on the women’s side finished a solid meet for Northwest as Chloe Wichman finished 10th and Ashli Mosby earned a 6th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
