Bearcats open outdoor season at Emporia
MARYVILLE, Mo.-The 2011 Northwest Missouri State outdoor track and field season will begin on March 17 in Emporia, Kan. The Bearcats will be heading to the Emporia State Spring Twilight meet at Zola Witten track.
Field events will begin at 2 p.m. with the running events to start at 2:30. Emporia State will cancel the meet if temperatures do not stay in the high 40s. No makeup date will be scheduled if the meet is canceled.
Northwest finished its indoor season on Feb. 27 at the MIAA Indoor Championships in Warrensburg. The men placed fifth and the Bearcat women finished in ninth-place.
Tyler Shaw is the lone Bearcat competing this weekend (March 11-12) at the national outdoor meet in Albuquerque, N.M. Shaw is running in the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash.
