Honeywell Climbs Hurdles Chart at Simpson
INDIANOLA, Iowa-Northwest Missouri State senior Brandi Honeywell continued her ascent up the program's 400-meter hurdle list after running 1:03.91 at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College Thursday and Friday. Honeywell's time is a career-best and moves her into fifth on the program's all-time list. She placed second in the event.
Junior Kate Walter placed second in the hammer throw with a season-best throw of 169-feet-10-inches. Senior Ben McKim had a pair of runner-up finishes and throwing 152-feet-10-inches in the discus and hitting 183-feet in the hammer, an NCAA provisional mark.
Freshman Zach Layton and sophomore Clay Martin finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run and entering the program's top 10 list in the process. Layton's finishing time of 15:06.77 ranks eighth in program history while Martin's time of 15:10.02 ranks 10th.
