ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-Northwest Missouri State senior Ben McKim placed fourth in the shot put to earn All-America honors Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship Meet hosted by Adams State. McKim threw a career-best 59-feet-11-inches, the second-best indoor throw in program history.
McKim was the national runner-up in the shot put at last year's outdoor national championships. He's the sixth Bearcat to earn indoor All-America honors in the event, joining a list that includes his brother, Daniel McKim, who placed eighth in the 2003.
Ashland's Kurt Roberts set a championship record by throwing 64-feet-11.5-inches. Nebraska-Kearney's Dane Tobey placed second (61-feet) and Pittsburg State's Brian Allen took third (60-feet-1.75-inches).
