Shaw Advances to Saturday's Final
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-Northwest Missouri State sophomore Tyler Shaw ran 8.08s in the 60-meter hurdles Friday to qualify for finals in the event at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship Meet hosted by Adams State.
Shaw, who finished second in the event last season, has assured himself of All-America honors for the second year in a row. Shaw will compete in the final at 5:05 p.m. MST Saturday.
Shaw was one of three runners to finish in 8.08s. Johnson C. Smith's Andre Collins edged Shaw to secure the seventh spot and Shaw edged Virginia Union's Melvin Edison for the eighth and final spot.
Andrew McDowell of Abilene Christian was the top qualifier at 7.82s. Shaw ran a career-best 8.06s in last year's final when he finished second.
