Four Bearcats Qualify For National Championships

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State seniors Ben McKim (shot put) and Emily Churchman (pentathlon), sophomore Tyler Shaw (60-meter hurdles) and freshman Angela Adams (5,000-meter run) have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship meet to be held March 12-13 in Albuquerque, N.M. Adams State College will serve as championship host.

Churchman, Shaw and McKim are repeat NCAA indoor qualifiers from a year ago and Churchman and Shaw are returning indoor All-Americans. Churchman placed eighth nationally in the pentathlon while Shaw was the national runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles.

McKim placed 10th nationally in the shot put last season, but was the national runner-up in the event at the NCAA outdoor championships last May.

Adams, a first-time national qualifier, shattered Northwest's program record in the 5,000-meter run while finishing fourth at last weekend's MIAA championship meet. Adams is a sophomore in both cross country and outdoor track and field at Northwest, but did not compete during the indoor season a year ago.

The schedule of events for Northwest's qualifiers is as follows:

(Tyler Shaw).
