Bailey Automatically Qualifies at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Audrey Bailey became the second Northwest athlete in as many days to secure a spot at the NCAA outdoor championships after running one minute, 0.60 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles at the 81st Kansas Relays that concluded today. She finished second among four Division I athletes and lowered her career-best by more than two-tenths of a second.
Bailey joins Ben McKim as automatic qualifiers for the national championships May 21-23 in San Angelo, Texas. McKim qualified with 58 feet, three inches, in the shot put yesterday to win the event.
Bridget Kleine finished fifth in the finals of the 400-meter dash and ran below the NCAA provisional qualifying time for the third straight race with 56.65. Anna O'Brien finished fifth in the 1,500-meter run with 4:45.30.
Martin Curley tied for 16th in the long jump with 21-5 1/4 after provisionally qualifying in the triple jump yesterday at Central Missouri. McKim also finished 15th in the discus with 152-6.
