Henry Provisionally Qualifies at Nisely Memorial Classic
CRETE, Neb. - Hannah Henry led three Northwest Missouri State hurdler finalists in the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic, hosted by Doane College today. Henry won her preliminary heat of the 55-meter hurdles with 8.54 and finished second in the finals with 8.37, good for the third-best time in program performer lists and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Johanna Avilez and Emily Churchman finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with 8.82 and 8.83. Lindsay Biermann finished 14th in the preliminaries with 9.73. Henry also finished seventh in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash with 7.65.
Avilez, Churchman, and Biermann will stay in Crete, Neb., and will be joined by Jennifer Kiss for the Kip Janvrin Multi-Events Meet tomorrow. The four athletes will try to improve or reach provisional qualifying marks in the pentathlon in order to advance to the national meet March 13-14, when the pentathlon makes its NCAA championships debut.
