Bearcat Women Head to Doane
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Most of the Northwest Missouri State track and field teams will enjoy a weekend of rest, but a few Bearcat women will be making the trip to Crete, Neb., for the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic today and the Kip Janvrin Multi-Events Meet tomorrow.
Field events begin at 10 a.m. with running events to follow at 1 p.m. in the Fuhrer Field House at Doane College. The track is 160 meters, which will raise NCAA qualifying times due to tighter turns and shorter straightaways.
Hannah Henry will be making her first start in two weeks as one of four Bearcats in the 55-meter hurdles. Henry ran a season-best 9.14 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Holiday Inn Invitational Jan. 17, and will start in the preferred lane for her heat. Johanna Avilez, Emily Churchman and Lindsay Biermann, who will be participating in the pentathlon tomorrow, will also make the start in the hurdles.
Churchman, Avilez and Biermann will join Jennifer Kiss in tomorrow's pentathlon. Churchman and Biermann competed at the Doane Multi-Events Dec. 12, where Churchman provisionally qualified and set the program record with 3,252 points in a third-place finish.
