Three Earn Provisional Marks; Four Named All-MIAA in First Day of Championships
MARYVILLE - Three Bearcats reached or lowered provisional marks and another 10 qualified for finals in the first day of the 2008 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Herschel Neil Track. Four additional athletes earned All-MIAA honors.
Ike Urum-Eke finished the highest of the Bearcats in final events, placing third in the triple jump with a provisional mark of 48-0.5. It's his second career provisional mark and first since 2006. E.J. Falkner earned his first provisional mark of the 2008 outdoor season, running 21.45 in the 200-meter dash to advance to tomorrow's finals.
On the women's side, Audrey Bailey lowered her provisional mark in the 400-meter hurdles with the best time in the preliminaries of 1:02.40.
Anna O'Brien earned her second career All-MIAA honor with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. Kate Walter threw 148-7 in the hammer throw to finish sixth and Karah Spader placed sixth in the last women's event of the evening, the 10,000-meter run, with 39:08.55 to round out All-MIAA performances.
The 2008 championships continue tomorrow with field events starting at noon and track events beginning at 1 p.m.
