Bearcats Win Four Events at Kip Janvrin Simpson College Open
INDIANOLA, Iowa - Northwest Missouri State won four events at the Kip Janvrin Simpson College Open Friday in the final tune up before the MIAA Championships next weekend. The Bearcats also earned five additional top three finishes.
The Northwest women claimed the first three spots in the 200-meter dash, led by senior Kailea Cook with a season-best time of 26.17. She was followed by freshmen Bridget Kleine with 26.49 and Rachel Lewis with 26.61.
Junior Anna O'Brien won the 1,500-meter run for the second time this season, running 4:47.78 to defeat the runner-up by over a second. The women's 4x100-meter relay team also won its event in 48.56.
On the men's side, sophomore Ike Urum-Eke won the triple jump with a mark of 45-1.75, defeating teammate and runner-up Martin Curley, who jumped 43-5.
At the Drake Relays: The Northwest men's 4x100-meter relay team of Kendall Wright, John Miles, Sheldon Cook and E.J. Falkner advanced to the finals with a preliminary time of 41.40. The provisional mark for Division II is 41.35.
