
EMPORIA, Kan. - Junior Audrey Bailey ran a season-best 1:04.27 in the 400-meter hurdles to win the event at the Papa John's Division II Challenge at Emporia State yesterday. It's Bailey third top-three finish this season in the hurdles, as she beat six MIAA athletes for the win.
Freshman Kate Walter placed second in the hammer throw with a personal-best 144-8 for her fifth top-three finish in the event this year. That mark places her fifth in all-time performer lists and is the best throw at Northwest since Abby Disselhoff threw 153-6 at the 2006 MIAA Championships.
Sophomore John Miles recorded his second straight top five finish in the 100-meter dash, running 10.92 in the finals to finish fifth. He clocked the second-fastest time in preliminaries with a wind-aided 10.68.
Junior Khai Berry ran a season-best 14.87 in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, finishing third behind the Ackermann twins of Truman. Sophomore Lindsay Biermann jumped 37-2.5 in a fourth-place finish in the triple jump, her best performance of the season.
The Bearcats placed five additional athletes in the top five of events.
Up Next: Northwest will send select athletes to the 81st Kansas Relays April 17-19. Other members will travel to the Central Missouri Mule Relays April 18.
