TULSA, Okla. - Junior Anna O'Brien provisionally qualified with the nation's sixth-fastest time in a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run at the Tulsa Duels. Her time of 10:14.04 is the the second-fastest time in program history to Heidi Metz's 10:09.09 in 1997.
It's O'Brien's first provisional qualification for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in her career. She broke her own 6K record in cross country this season, running 22:09.7 at the NCAA South Central Regional Oct. 20.
Junior Halley Carlson also placed second in the high jump with an outdoor personal record of 5-5. Freshman Kate Walker finished third in the hammer throw with 134-4 in her first collegiate outdoor meet, good enough for 10th in the all-time performer list.
The Bearcats will send a limited group to the Missouri Relays March 28-29. Multi-event athletes will compete in the Ashley Nally Heptathlon March 30-31 before the entire team competes in the Jock's Nitch Northwest Open April 5.
