MARYVILLE, Mo. - Three student-athletes from the Northwest men's indoor track and field team will head to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships March 14-15 in Mankato, Minn. Senior E.J. Falkner and sophomore John Miles will compete in the 60-meter dash while senior Kendall Wright will compete in the long jump. It's the first trip to the indoor national championships for Miles and Wright and the third for Falkner.

Falkner automatically qualified in the 60-meter dash with the nation's seventh-best time of 6.79, recorded in the semifinals of the MIAA Championships. He is one-hundredth of a second away from the school record set by Gabriel Helms in 2004. He already has four indoor All-America titles, including a 60-meter dash honor from 2005.

Miles ran 6.84 in the semifinals of the 60-meter dash at the MIAA Championships for the 13th-best time in national performance lists. He earned All-MIAA honors last weekend in the 60-meter dash, finishing fourth in the finals.

Wright earned his third straight MIAA indoor long jump title last weekend, winning with the nation's 13th-longest jump of 23-8.25. He holds the sixth-longest jump in indoor performer lists and the ninth-best performance in program history. Wright is the third person in Northwest history to win an event three straight seasons at the MIAA Indoor Championships and the first since Jim Ryan in the mile run from 1982-84.

The 23rd Men's NCAA Indoor Championships will be held at Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Falkner and Miles will run in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash at 6:18 p.m. while Wright will compete in the finals of the long jump at 6:20 p.m. The top eight finishers in each individual event are named All-Americans.
