Bearcat Women Win Two Events at South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. - The Northwest Missouri State women's indoor track and field team won two events off the running of freshman Bridget Kleine and junior Anna O'Brien today at the John Dalton Open at the University of South Dakota. Kleine won the 400-meter dash, running 59.42, while O'Brien won the mile run with 5:17.93.

Kleine beat teammate junior Audrey Bailey in the 400-meter dash, who finished second with 59.86. Both Bearcats were the only athletes to run under a minute in the event. Bailey also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a career-best 26.55.

O'Brien notched a runner-up performance in the 1,000-meter run with 3:05.60.

Junior Halley Carlson placed second in the high jump with a 5-5 jump while junior Tierney Eaton finished fifth in the long jump with 16-7.5.

Up Next: Both Northwest teams travel to the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., Feb. 22. Competition from the Bob Devaney Center starts at 1 p.m.
