Both Northwest Track and Field Teams in Top 20
MARYVILLE - Northwest Missouri State featured both indoor track and field teams in the top 20 of the USTFCCCA/D2Rankings.com Power Rankings for the second straight week. The Bearcat women are 12th while the men sit 18th.
The women dropped four spots after an eighth-place ranking last week. Northwest is third among MIAA schools with Missouri Southern ranked third and Central Missouri at fifth. The Bearcats tallied 211.69 points, up from 204.92 the week before.
Northwest dropped four spots on the men's side to No. 18. Central Missouri and Pittsburg State are the only MIAA teams ahead of the Bearcats.
The women will travel to Vermillion, S.D., for the South Dakota John Dalton Open Saturday. Both teams will travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the Prairie Wolf Invitational Feb. 22.
The rankings formula developed by D2Rankings.com gives points in a manner designed to award teams that cover as many events as possible, to maintain the team aspect of the sport.
