WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Senior E.J. Falkner provisionally qualified in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes in his first appearance of the season at the UCM Mule Relays today. Falkner ran 6.85 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash and 22.07 in the 200-meter dash to become the first member of the Northwest men's indoor track and field team to qualify for the NCAA Championships next month.
Falkner finished second in the 200-meter dash and ran the third-fastest time in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash. Falkner already has four indoor All-America titles between the 60-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.
John Miles came within three-hundredths of a second from provisionally qualifying in the 60-meter dash, running 6.91 in the finals to finish sixth.
Kendall Wright and Khai Berry finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in finals of the 60-meter hurdles. Both ran a career-best, with Wright clocking 8.33 and Berry running 8.36. Wright also finished second in the long jump with a season-best 22-8.
Ben McKim threw 51-2.75 in the shot put for a fifth-place finish and 51-9.75 in the weight throw to place sixth. Sophomore Eric Rickert finished seventh in the shot put with 49-7.75 and 12th in the weight throw with 47-7.25.
Up Next: Both teams take next weekend off before heading back to Lincoln, Neb., for the Prairie Wolf Invitational Feb. 22.
