WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Junior Halley Carlson became the first Northwest Missouri State track athlete to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships this season, jumping 5-6 in a third-place finish in the high jump at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays today. Carlson set a personal record in the event, besting a 5-4.25 performance from 2006 to move into a tie for fifth in the all-time performer list.
Freshman Bridget Kleine finished third in the 400-meter dash, one of three runners out of 26 that ran under a minute. Junior Audrey Bailey timed 1:29.03 in a runner-up performance in the 600-yard run, the third-best performer mark in program history.
Junior Tierney Eaton jumped a career-best 17-1.5 in the a fourth-place performance in the long jump and tied for fourth in the high jump behind Carlson with 5-4.25.
Sophomore Katie Harman threw a personal-best 44-7 in the weight throw, moving within a foot of ninth-place on Northwest performer lists.
The Bearcat men travel to the UCM Relays tomorrow. Action from the UCM Multipurpose Building begins at 12:30 p.m.
