Northwest Men Ranked Ninth in Nationwide Power Rankings

MARYVILLE - The Northwest Missouri State men's indoor track and field team sit ninth in the latest Division II power rankings released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and D2Rankings.com. It's the highest mention for the Bearcat men since been ranked eighth Feb. 14, 2007.

Northwest accumulated 212.16 points based on the season-best of the top two athletes in each event. The formula is designed to award teams that cover as many events as possible, to maintain the team aspect of the sport.

The Bearcats are the top-ranked MIAA school in the rankings, followed by Central Missouri in 12th and Emporia State in 17th.

Northwest will be in action again next week at the Central Missouri Mule Relays Feb. 8. Competition from the UCM Multipurpose Building begins at 11 a.m.
