MARYVILLE - Northwest Missouri State senior track and field athlete Eric Isley earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team honors, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He carries a 3.61 grade-point average in computer science and general business. The honor is the first for the Northwest men's track and field team since Clint Prange earned Academic All-America honors in 2005.

Isley is a four-time MIAA Champion in the 800-meter run between the indoor and outdoor seasons and set the MIAA Indoor Championship record in 2006. He is a two-time All-American in the event, placing fourth at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships and sixth at the 2006 national outdoor meet. His 1:50.77 outdoor personal record set at the Emporia State Qualifier on May 12 is the second-fastest time ran in Northwest history, and a 1:51.15 time at the NCAA Indoor Championships this season was four-hundredths of a second from the school record.

He is also a two-time MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient. He placed on the Northwest Honor Roll seven times, including three times on the President's Honor Roll with a 4.0 semester GPA.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
