Three Northwest Runners Going to NCAA Championships
BOSTON, Mass. - Northwest Missouri State will send three indoor track and field athletes to the NCAA Championships, announced today by www.NCAASports.com. Seniors Eric Isley (Pleasantville, Iowa), Bayo Adio (Oakland, Calif.), and Diezeas Calbert (Omaha, Neb.) made the national qualifying list. The Northwest athletes that had provisional marks that did not make the national list were sophomore Sheldon Cook, junior Kendall Wright, sophomore Ike Urem-Eke and sophomore Tierney Eaton.
The national meet is scheduled to take place on the weekend of March 9-10 in Boston, Mass. It is hosted by Stonehill College and the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. There will be a total of 400 participants competing in the Championships.
Isley is the top qualifier for Northwest this season. He qualified for the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.67. This is the third fastest time in the nation this season. Last year, Isley placed in 12th place in the preliminaries at the championship with a time of 1:56.17.
