Bearcat Track and Field Dominates in Vermillion
VERMILLION, S.D.- The Northwest Missouri State men and women's teams traveled to Vermillion, S.D., for the Bill Hillenbrand Invitational. Both teams accumulated a total of 16 top three finishes, including seven first place finishes. The women gathered in seven of the top three finishes and the men took the other nine.
Senior Kailea Cook finished in first place in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.87. Cook also finished in first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.00.
In the women's long jump, freshman Lindsay Biermann was the first place finisher with a jump of 5.31 meters. Junior Brandy Honeywell finished behind Biermann in third place with a jump of 5.10 meters.
Junior Jeff Kanger finished in first place in the men's 1-mile run with a time of 4:29.85.
Sophomore Khai Berry finished in second place in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8:37.
Senior Bayo Adio finished in first place in the men's high jump with a height of 6-08.25. Adio also finished in second place in the men's triple jump with a time of 45-09.25.
With a NCAA provisionally qualifying jump of 47-02.25, sophomore Ike Urem-Eke finished in first place in the men's triple jump.
In the men's shot put, Junior Brandon Shoen finished in first place with a distance of 49-02.25. Finishing just two inches behind Shoen, freshman Ben McKim finished in second place with a distance of 49-00.25.
The men's team is currently placed fourth in the entire Division II rankings with 233.80 points; just 15 points behind first place Ashland University. The men are currently first in the MIAA conference.
