Alsup Signs Two Additional Athletes for Men's Cross Country/Track and Field
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University head men's track and field/cross country coach Richard Alsup announced the signing of two additional athletes to NCAA National Letters of Intent. Junior Bichok Deng and freshman Elliott Perkins join eight athletes who signed earlier this summer.
Deng, a 6' 1", 145 lb. junior from Marshalltown, Iowa, transferred from Iowa Central Community College. He qualified for the 2005 NJCAA Outdoor National Championships in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs, and 1,600-meter relay. Deng was named All-America in cross country, finishing 14th in the 2004 national meet, and earned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference cross country runner of the week honors four times from 2004-05.
Perkins is a 5' 11", 185 lb. freshman from La Vista, Neb. He was a district champion in the 800-meter run and placed second in the event at state competition, clocking 1:55.52. Perkins also ran 49.1 seconds in a split of the 1,600-meter relay.
