Calbert and Isley Earn Northwest's Second and Third All-America Titles
EMPORIA, Kan. - The Bearcat track and field team added two All-America titles at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships that concluded today. Junior Eric Isley placed sixth in the 800-meter run with 1:56.44, and senior Diezeas Calbert recorded a mark of 50' 1/2" in the triple jump to take sixth. To be named an All-American, an athlete must place in the top eight of their event.
Nick Lara of Adams State won the 800-meter run with 1:55.46. The national champion in the triple jump was Wilbert Walker from Lincoln (Mo.).
The Bearcats ended the NCAA meet with three All-Americans. Senior thrower Travis MacKenzie earned All-America status after finishing sixth in the hammer throw on Thursday with a school-record toss of 185' 0".
Northwest finished 32nd as a team with nine points.
