
EMPORIA, Kan. – Senior thrower Travis MacKenzie broke the Northwest hammer throw record for the second time this season, measuring 185’ 0” to place sixth in the event in the first day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships today in Emporia, Kan. The sixth-place finish earns MacKenzie his first All-America honor.
MacKenzie finished fourth in his flight, making his school-record mark in the last toss of the preliminaries.
The Bearcats will continue competition tomorrow, as senior Bayo Adio will compete in the finals of the high jump, with starting time at 6:00 p.m. Junior Eric Isley will participate in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run at 6:15 p.m.
