Men Earn Three Individual Titles; Women Place Nine on the All-MIAA Squad at Outdoor Championships
EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Northwest Missouri State men's outdoor track and field team took third and gathered three individual titles at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Championships, hosted by Emporia State. The Northwest women earned nine All-MIAA honors as it finished sixth as a team.
Junior Bayo Adio won top honors in the high jump with a leap of 6' 11 3/4", his best jump as a Bearcat. Senior Diezeas Calbert won the individual title in the triple jump (50' 1/2") while junior Eric Isley clocked the fastest in the 800-meter with a time of 1:51.42. Overall, 20 athletes on the men's side finished in the top six to swipe All-MIAA honors.
Senior Alisha Samuel was the highest women's finisher taking third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.09. The 2005 MIAA Outdoor champion bettered her season-high of 12.29 set on April 15. The 4x100 relay squad took third place with a mark of 46.73. It was the only Bearcat relay squad to get All-MIAA status.
The Northwest men finished with 103 points as a team, 33 behind second-place Pittsburg State. The women ended with 29 points following fift-place Missouri Southern State. Central Missouri State won both team titles as the men collected 203 points and the women totaled 204.5 points.

The teams will next compete at the Missouri Southern Invite on May 11 and the Emporia State Twilight Qualifier on May 13 to gear up for the Outdoor National Championships May 25-27 in Emporia, Kan.
