Adio Ties for Second in High Jump; Three Men's Relay Teams Perform at 2006 Drake Relays
DES MOINES, Iowa - (complete results) Northwest Missouri State junior Bayo Adio tied for second in the high jump and three men's relay squads placed at the 2006 Drake Relays, which occurred Thursday through Saturday at Drake Stadium. This event is noted for numerous professional and Division I athletes to be in attendance.
Adio tied for second overall with a leap of 6' 6 3/4". It was his sixth effort in the top three this year and he already has an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 6' 10 3/4" accomplished at the Northwest Invitational on April 1.
The 1,600 sprint medley team of freshman Sheldon Cook, sophomore Kendall Wright and Jeff Kanger and junior Eric Isley took ninth with a time of 3:31.26. In the 4x800 relay, Isley and Kanger teamed up with freshmen Jeff Ritchie and Stephen Pool to place 16th overall at 7:47.39. The third Bearcat relay team to place was Ritchie, sophomores John Bullock and Brandon Dart and junior Matt Pohren in the distance medley. This quartet placed 20th overall with a clocking of 10:39.50.
Multi-event athletes will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., for the MIAA Multi-Events Championships on April 30-May 1. Other athletes will participate at the MIAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Emporia State May 6-7.
