Northwest Men Win Two Events; McKee Sets Northwest Record

SEWARD, Neb. - The Northwest men's track and field team placed eight in the top-three and won two events at the Concordia University Invitational today in Seward, Neb. Senior Dia McKee broke the school 3,000-meter steeplechase record for the second time this season, running 11:55.09, one of four women to place in the top-three of events.

Freshman Sheldon Cook won the 100-meter dash with 10.99, the fastest time recorded by any Bearcat this season. Sophomore John Bullock placed second in the 400-meter dash with season high 54.53 seconds. Freshman Ron Purnell ran a 52.58 400-meter dash to finish 15th, while freshman Anthony Armstrong placed 7th with 52.73.

Junior Eric Isley provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, recording a 1:52.13 800-meter run with a second-place finish. Sophomore Brandon Dart led Northwest runners in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter run, finishing eighth and third, respectively. Dart set a personal record in the 5,000-meter run with a 15:34.56 time.

Freshman Daniel Urum-Ike won the triple jump, improving on his NCAA qualifying mark with a 47' 10 1/4" jump. Junior Clif McIntosh tied for second in the pole vault with 14' 9". Junior Bayo Adio placed third in the high jump with 6' 7", while sophomore Brent Clifton tied for ninth.

For the women, senior Alisha Samuel finished third and junior Kailea Cook placed sixth in the finals of the 100-meter dash. Junior Megan Robinson recorded 26.61 seconds for an eighth place finish in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Anna O'Brien placed third in the 5,000-meter run with 18:48.39, her third top-five finish of the year in any event. Sophomore Cassie Sherlock clocked 2:29.70 for a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run.

Freshman Halley Carlson placed fifth in the high jump with 5' 0", one of eight Bearcats in the top-five for the women. Senior Abby Disselhoff also finished fifth with a 142' 9" mark in the hammer throw. Freshman Emily Churchman came in eighth in the triple jump out of 20 athletes.

Both Northwest Missouri State track and field teams will travel to Lincoln, Neb., on April 15 for the Nebraska Invitational. Multi-Event athletes will participate in the Emporia Multi-Events on April 14-15, in Emporia, Kan.
