Churchman Places Third at Northwest Multi-Events
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest freshman Emily Churchman totaled 3,929 points for a third-place finish in the heptathlon at the Northwest Centennial Multi-Events. Freshman Johanna Avilez finished fifth and freshman Jennifer Kiss placed eighth out of an 11 person field.
Churchman finished in the top-five in six of seven events, placing third in the high jump, long jump, and 800-meter run. Avilez won the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, and long jump, collecting 3,733 points. Kiss placed seventh in the 800-meter run, and eighth in three events to finish eighth overall with 2,894 points.
Brandi Honeywell, competing unattached, finished second in three events to win the women's heptathlon with 4,282 points. Ryan Koch of St. Cloud State (Minn.) won the men's decathlon, winning three events with 5,989 points.
Both Northwest track and field teams will be hosting the 2006 Northwest Invitational on April 1, at Herschel Neil Track and Bearcat Stadium. Events begin at 10:00 A.M.
